  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Not eating off and on - are they fighting?

Just looking for some advice really. Took Rusty to vets last week as he was not eating and after syringe feeding was fine. Willow this morning was hiding in her box and again would not eat, even with dandelions etc. - very unlike her!

Just went in to try and tempt her before vets and she was hopping around wanting food, but Rusty was being allot more boisterous than usual and there were a few chunks of fur. He seems to have lost his laid back nature somewhat.

Basically should I be worried? Could it be fighting putting them both off food?
Any advice?

Thanks,

Lynette

PS. Both have been done.

It could be a bit of play got out of hand
Try putting them in a small area away from their hutch for a while with a big pile of veg
And while they are there completely disinfect out their hutch and change toys etc..might throw him a bit

As vet has checked him then should be just a bit of tempet getting set off
Has vet checked his teeth? if a bun is in pain can make them grumpy

Keep us posted

Vet checked teeth and he was down to have down, but as soon as he started eating again they filed down. So not the teeth. Don't you wish they could talk? :(

I'll disinfect their run. x
