  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi, I am just looking to see if anyone has any infor on this particular subject. This is not my rabbit however i do know a little bit about her. She started off having 2 lumps on her back which when oing to the vet ended up being cysts which was diagnosed by the vet. She got these removed surgically however about 7 more have came up over the past month in different places on the body and head and keep getting drained. The vet is unsure what could eb causeing this and just not sure if anyone else has any idea. They are abou the size of a brussel sprout and are raised and bald under the skin. She is fine other wise...eating, drinking, pooing ect.....Any ideas anyone as im stumped.

I am curious as to exactly what they are. It sounds like abscesses. In rabbits, they can 'seed' around the body. They are encapsulated and are filled with a very thick gunge that looks like cream cheese, so could be described as fatty cysts, maybe?

But if they were pus filled abscesses they wouldn’t aspirate fluid, which they apparently are doing 🤔
