Favorite Breed

the breeder and nowmy friend jo is a very responsible breeder..yes they do exist...and she only has a few litters a year and those all go to pet homes and she interviews all the prospective owners and gives tham advice there and afterwards via the telephone/mobile.

its her fault i love frenchies..i adopted bertie off her when we lost our beloved mini lop..oscar..leaving behind a pining wifey called bif..shed layed down to die..bertie came along we saw how theyd clicked and i kept him on a bit longer and a bit longer then bonded them over a month..shes never having him back now:oops::lol: hes a REW and i dont norm like those but hes lurvely..dirty hard to house train as hes anoutdoor bun for 18 months and really lazy and marks everything with poos! but his lovable unflappable personality shines through...my little 2 yr old grabdaughter today described bertie as her favouritist bunny and hes her bestest friend..and he is to everybody:lol:
willows a stroppy doe frenchie but soooo clean..shes immaculate..pity my other buns arent like her:lol::lol: but shes almsot twice the size of bertie!

we have bif a maneless lionhead lop the rescue thought....and bandit a lionhead his rescue thought.

i adore mini lops .....always wanted a german lop....a flemish giant......a french lop.....well one out of 3 aint bad:lol:

if youre as friendly as poor jo...then youre phone must ring off the hook with folks seeking bunny advice even health advice!! jo has been resucing chins since i met her..once had 24 and her hubby didnt even notice the number of 12 had increased in a fortnight:lol::lol:

So you are voting for the type of rabbits next to grace the rescues? I'm getting to know the local breeders by the rabbits we get in, bunnyland lionheads and minilops, lots of mini-rexs locally, harlequin lops with snuffles from pets@home........
if yours are lucky some might end up here or a similiar rescue, the rest, well flystrike might put them out of their misery quickly, or they might have to spend years in a tiny hutch being bored out of their minds, or used to breed more generations to suffer a similiar fate.

How can you live with being responsible for so much suffering???????

You know I really hate it when people do this:(, Not all breeders are bad for peep sakes I only breed two litters a year all of them get pet, breeder or show homes and all of the homes are responsible gees us Christ why does every one think breeders are so horrible :?

So...being from a breeder automatically means the rabbit will be given to a bad home is that it?
Breeders can be just as picky on new homes as a rescue is you know, and I've even heard of cases were rescue animals are put down when the owner goes away on vacation, without informing the rescue in question.

Stop assuming all breeders are bad, there are bad breeders and there are good breeders, as well as there can be bad rescue.
I know you are all concerned about rabbit welfare but I am getting rather tired of all breeders being seen as evil, just because their rabbits have a litter every now and then. (And yeah I know about rescue situation but I'm pretty sure 90% of these come from the bad kind who sells their rabbits anywhere or to pet shops, not all breeders are the same you know, plenty of them even take back rabbits if their new owner can't keep them for some reason, just like a rescue would.)

Thanks for well standin up for us breeders I just don't see the point in thinking breeders are evil

Thanks everyone for all your posts Me and my sister have been talking and sorry none of your breeds have been picked :( we are going to try to breed the amazing Harlequin no not breed but Mini Rex Color but not regular harlies ones with tort bases and Sable stripes :D  :D what do you all think but keep posting your favorites and reasons I find them intresting:D

I think you need to do a bit more research about rabbit genetics before you start trying to create new breeds or colours...basically all you'll be doing is creating more cross-breeds
