Ear problem

My little nethie has tatty scaly ears but it is nothing like the ear mite pictures. I've had her for 18 months and it is only the outer edge of the ear which is thickend and rough. The vet thought that she had been bullied by her "friend" and as she also lost a huge amount of weight she now lives with us in the house and she has put back the weight and is healthy otherwise. At the time the ears looked like they were nibbled but I have loosened thickish dead flaky skin off and they still look no better. There is nothing inside the ear itself only the edges.
Funnily I had a Dog a few years ago with a similar problem and another vet just dismissed it.
Any ideas please?

Well I did read that those type of ears was indicative of fleas whether past or present. Someone else may know better but I took a small Nethie off some people who had been left with a buck constantly, both unneutered, and she was in a poor state as you can imagine, and her ears are the same as you describe. I asked the Vet why but cough they didn't know. She is fine now, has put weight on, had incisors out but eats loads, but her ears are still not right, there's no fur around the edge. Her coat is good so no fleas now so who knows.
