Contact paper instead of vinyl?

I asked a question like this and people told me to get vinyl off cuts. Sadly this is not a option as I canny find any. So I was wondering if contact paper would be ok? I would obviously be changing it like once a month? Thanks in advance

You can buy it from eBay - I got some great quality stuff from there - non-slip too.

I went into a carpet shop and bought a small piece of vinyl off the roll, it was cheaper than the offcut, cost me £20. This could be an option if you cant get hold of an offcut.
