Regarding her lack of followers, the thing is she needs to publicise her blog in a variety of ways. Participating on forums which allow blog sigs, submitting the blog to Google to catalogue, taking care with keywords / tags so the blog comes up on searches, posting interesting comments on other people's blogs so that they follow her back to hers. Readers and followers don't happen by accident - unless the blog is really original and exceptional.
