Bringing outside rabbit indoors

Hi! I have a rabbit that we rescued on the side of the road and after we took her to the vet and no one claimed her we have kept her, she isn’t my first rabbit, however we think she was previously an outdoor rabbit, and while she is mainly outdoors now, i do tend to have my rabbits inside and outside however she is very cautious about being indoors, on my bed she is trying to dig, and she is almost dipping down and sliding forwards every now and then, she is only 1, and i do not know what this behaviour suggests, any advice would be great!! thank you 💗

Digging is a normal Rabbit behaviour. The ‘sliding forwards’ is what a Rabbit does to move soil when building a burrow.

In the colder months it is not a good idea to bring an outdoor Rabbit indoors and then put them out into the cold again. Rabbits can cope with cold weather as long as they have appropriate accommodation. But they cannot cope with drastic changes in environmental temperature. As would occur when coming into a warm house from the cold winter weather and then going back out into the cold from a warm house.

Does your Rabbit have a companion? Rabbits are social animals and need a companion of their own kind.

The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund have a lot of information about all aspects related to Rabbits. Including the need for companionship, neutering and vaccinating 😀
