Bonding a trio and a single bunny

Mama Doe
Hi all. I have a trio which I bonded last year and a neutered single girl who has never been bonded before. The trio are very close and groom each other and cuddle up constantly. Despite a very large enclosure they prefer to hang out in one corner! I don't want to upset my trios bond as it's really special so should I find a different friend for my little girl? Has anyone else had a similar dilema? My trio are all older rabbits and my single girl is around 2/3 years old. Thanks for reading-any thoughts much apreciated.

Personally if adopting a fifth Rabbit is an option I’d do that.

IME strong trio bonds are rare, there’s usually one who is always an outsider. As you have a rare trio bond if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it.
You don’t mention the genders of the trio and I am assuming they are all neutered, but the most likely problems could occur between the new Doe and any Doe in the established trio. That could set off aggression between the whole trio

Others might disagree, but that’s my opinion for what it’s worth.
Good luck whatever you decide to do

I would also leave the trio alone and look at another friend for the lone bun. Girls can be more awkward to bond (especially with other females) and I really wouldn't want to upset the trio. A younger, neutered boy has a much better chance of achieving a successful pair bonding than a quad does.

In future, you may be able to bond any remaining rabbits into a bigger group - but that's hopefully a long way down the line. By then, she will have experienced being in a bond and will have mellowed a bit - which will make potential future bonds easier, hopefully.

Thanks everyone. I don't think i will attempt it. The trio bond is very tight and they all seem to love each other equally! The bond consists of 2 does and a buck-all neutered. I agree that you often get one in the trio who is a little on the outside but these 3 are all close. I think I will look into finding my single girl a friend. Thanks again!
