  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lung lesion - to have surgery or not? Experiences appreciated.

I'm so sorry you've lost Augustus :( You did everything you could for him and I hope you do get some comfort from the fact he had a peaceful and dignified passing at home with you by his side.

Sleep tight little one xx

I'm really sorry, I read the post from the start and it definitely seemed a difficult (and even hectic) time for you. Though I think you said what I would have felt - that the surgery was maybe going to be clinging at straws. He received the best care that he could without added stress and strain to him.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. It's sounds as though you were both strongly bonded to each other, so the sadness you must be feeling at the moment may feel unbearable. I hope you can take comfort that your friend passed away by your side knowing that they were very much loved. It's hard for anyone who hasn't enjoyed the friendship of a rabbit to appreciate how intelligent and understanding they truly are. x

I'm glad you gave him so much comfort & support right up to his final moments, it sound like he passed so peacefully. I'm sorry you lost him. Sweet dreams Augustus
