Old medications

Indeed, it would however be illegal!

You should be able to return unused meds to any pharmacy and they will send for specialist disposal. The expiry depends on the medication, they do shelf life studies to determine how long things last. With liquids this also depends upon whether it is in the original container or not, for example Baytril tends to chrystallise out of solution once transferred from the original container after about a week because the plastic is different.

Is it really? I didn't know sending medicines in the post is illegal! How does that work then if you have a prescription from your vets and you buy your medicine from an online company?

And what about some of the charities from Romania etc who actually ask to be donated medicines?

Its not sending meds by post that it is illegal it is sending prescription meds to someone who hasn't got a prescription

Thanks Liz. Yes it is unlicensed supplyof medicines that is illegal. POM and P medicines can only be sold or supplied at registered pharmacy premises by or under the supervision of a pharmacist. POMs are subject to the additional requirement that they are sold or supplied in accordance with an appropriate practitioner's prescription. An "appropriate practitioner" is a doctor, dentist or, in certain circumstances, an independent nurse prescriber or a supplementary prescriber.
