  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Snoopy has an ear infection/ really bad update :(

Lots of vibes for Snoopy from me, too. It's so good that he's been doing so well lately, and of course it'd be devastating if it's something untreatable... I so, so hope for you and Snoopy that it's something he can get better from.

Thanks again everyone. xx

I've just had a call from the vet and it's really bad news. The scan showed he has a mass on his lungs. The prognosis is obviously very poor and it cannot be treated. I can't let him suffer so I will be having him pts this evening. I'm taking Fudgie so she can say goodbye too and understand what's going on.

I'm so shocked and upset. I knew something sinister was going on but this has really blindsided me 😔

Aw **** SLH, I'm so sorry. You could never have known. The biggest hugs for you and Fudgie and best wishes for later today xxx

I'm so very sorry :'( will be thinking of you :'( xx

Tragic

I am so very sorry

I'm so very sorry to read this news, Scrappy. I can imagine the pain you must be in at this unexpected turn. My thoughts are with you and Fudgie this evening. Bless you both. xxxx

Thanks so much for your kind words everyone, it really means a lot to me xx

Snoopy passed away very quickly and peacefully this evening. He went even before the vet had finished the injection so it was obviously the right time. They did give me the option of letting him have a few days at home first but I felt that would just prolong his suffering.

I'm really glad I took Fudgie with me to say goodbye. They had a good snuggle together and I think he really appreciated spending his last moments with her.

It feels so strange not having him here. When I came back home I automatically scanned the room for him 😔

After all that, it turns out he didn't have an ear infection. His ears were completely clear apart from some wax. So I'm guessing the head tilt was probably EC after all.

I'm so glad he got to spend his last moments with Fudgie. I agree with Babsie - you've always done right by him, he lived his best life. You & Fudge will be in my thoughts xx
