Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Safety warning about an enclosure - please read

That is awful :(

Please can you add a *warning distressing image * to your first post.

Thanks for raising awareness, i just can't get this imge out of my head:(:(:(

Agree
This should not have been posted without a warning
Too late now.... I too am haunted by that image!

Jemjabella, yes, I have contacted the seller (Bunny Business) via email, several times, so far they have said nothing is likely to be done about it, as bars are a standard width. They have been fairly dismissive, but then email isn't always the easiest way to tell. SSPCA have advised I take it up with trading standards, which I have just looked up the number for.

How sad :( I might ring bunny business tomorrow if I get 5 mins spare and see what they say on the phone.

I shared the image via twitter earlier, I'll do the same on facebook shortly.

several on these being sold on ebay at the moment, each with several bids, but unfortunately I can't email the bidders as their user ID is hidden AND the seller has made the auction private which leads me to think that they have probably received emails of concern but don't want auction interference :censored:

I have contacted Ebay customer service and they said they will look into it. So waiting for them and Amazon and Bunny Business all to get back to me. If anyone else sees the same run elsewhere let me know and I can email them as well.

Also now phoned trading standards, they will refer to their people to look into it, under grounds of it not being safe for use policy. Will keep you updated.

I have the same style as that as well, KMazzy, mostly to fence off areas of the garden they can't get in. If I compare them, the biggest difference I see is although the gaps are about the same, the one you have has more horizontal parts round it, and the verticals are no more than a few inches. In the enclosure, the verticals are about double in height, which gives them more flex, if that makes sense.

Oh that makes sense, thank you. I won't sit here at work worrying about my buns all morning now. I may mesh it anyway as Jaffa chews at the bottom of it.

I will try flexing it and see how easy it is.

I am such a worrier about my rabbits :/

had a quick look on the net and found these, looking at the bar spacing it's can be considered as dangerous -

and this rabbit rescue lady is actually looking for some....she may need warning also http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108238091/metal-rabbit-runs-wanted.html

I bought two similar runs about five years ago which I've never used. I was going to try and sell them on ebay in the Spring. However I'll now be taking them to the dump at the weekend after seeing the photo of the poor rabbit:(:(

Hi - I will have a wee look later, and see if any of them are the same style as mine, if so I will email the companies. I will send a wee message to the lady on preloved, thanks.

I have spoken via email with the lady who lost her rabbit and posted the photo on Amazon. She posted the photo as a warning for other people to see how dangerous she felt the enclosure was, she was so upset about it all that she wanted to make sure this didn't happen to any other family. I am glad I have now spoken with her, and heard about her experience.

I haven't heard yet from Amazon, the original seller of mine Bunny Business, or trading standards. I will be called them all again at the start of next week. In the mean time, please keep sharing the warning, as more poor reviews warning been added to the original listing.

Cover them with weld mesh on the inside and use them.

Well done to everyone who are making the efforts to complain to sellers. I bought my one from zooplus but never said anything when it happened as at the time didn't know it had happened to anyone else :(

My god that poor bunny and the owner i can't imagine what their going through right now. My Bramble miss timed his blinky and ran face first into one of these. I now realise just how dam lucky i was that he just had a very sore and swollen nose.

I replaced my main ones with wooden ones but still have one for the guinea pig girls think i will replace that one before next summer too.

I would say it is still worth complaining now, where ever it was from. It won't change anything for you personally, but if it helps the companies take them off the market, then other bunnies will be safer.
