  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Raven needs vibes

I am worried about Raven. Earlier I wondered if ear related because he had head tilt from ear infection in the past. I started him on abx I got in late November, then did not use. He is holding his right ear crossed behind the other one.
Please send more vibes.

Poor Raven. Sending vibes that it's something easily cured. You've got too much on your plate to have worries about him not being well.

If he needs to see a vet can your hubby take him? Has the weather cleared well enough?

Keeping you all in my thoughts. xxxxx

Oh no, poor boy. Perhaps your Spouse could take him back to the Vet given Raven is obviously still not right.

IME Baytril alone is ineffective for ear infections, if used it is almost always alongside another abx. But personally I think getting a Vet to try to establish what is going on for him would be the best option. I realise that getting a Vet appointment can be easier said than done and I assume the weather is still treacherous. But it seems that just fire fighting symptoms isn’t getting him ‘right’, hence my feeling that the primary problem is yet to be addressed.

I am sure you could well do without this additional stress

Sending lots more vibes

Thanks MM and Jane,
I have sulfatrim abx, so not baytril.
Weather warmed up a lot, though getting vet appt will be difficult.
Plus spouse working. I will try to speak with vet.

Oh no sorry to hear about Raven, really hope the abx will help whatever is bothering him. Sending lots of vibes for him xxx
