Rabbit Warts????? - UD off to the vets now.

It is a sexually transmitted disease, the reason it shows on the face is because it affects mucus membranes (lips, nose, eyes, ears, genitals). So it is uncertain if say Humphrey could have it.

It can spread from mucus membrane to mucus membrane (hence it can be spread by mating), so a rabbit washing an infected rabbit's eyes could also catch it.

If that is the case we should not refer to it as a sexually trasmitted infection. it is simply a contageous infection. You can not catch a human STI from kissing say... :D
 
Sexual transmission usually just means that it's a 'normal' mode of transmission but it doesn't mean there aren't other ways. Plenty of human illnesses are known as STIs/STDs but they can also be transmitted in other ways - HIV, Hepatitis or chlamydia for example. Surely what's important here is correct diagnosis and treatment in order to prevent suffering and ill health, not splitting hairs over semantics?
