I know the picture you mean. I think that it wasn't all that bad as you can get same sort of pictures in geography books. As it was just native dress that did have a funny side to it. I don't think it should be pornoraphic in there, but sometimes some of the extreme animal abuse cases are too much for all to stomach. It would be nice to have a place where there is a chance that some of the stuff imagies that could offend could go, but out of the way so people know they choose to read them, rather then inocently wonder across them. Hopefully that makes sense.

I can't spell
Yep that makes sense, and i Agree :D

If a seperate Adult chat was created there would be no point if it was going to be censored to such an extent that it was the same as is now allowed in General chat :?
The "riske" pic was tame compared to things in other chat sites and surely something as inoffensive as that would have to be allowed in an Adult chat room?!
Perhaps have an adult section with the warning " May contain material unsuitable for children"..?

Hiya :) This is the problem though isnt it, some people would think that image harmless, whilst others would not
As admin we have view the forum slightly differently to our members, and act when we receive complaints, or see something that could be offensive to some.
I agree that separating topics into a it more ordered structure could help this problem, but we would like members to 1) say if they feel this is really necessary, or are they happy with the current forum system :?:
2) How we make a adult forum structure that is more relaxed and yet does not encourage people to feel they can start posting adult material, or push the boundaries of decency to the limit.
The majority will use the adult forum sensibly, but it only takes one member to abuse it and can offence, and that is something we really wish to avoid.
So...what rules :?: and what will members consider to be suitable topics, or material for this new section of the forum :?:

Thanks :)

Mmmm i will have a think. I thnk most bunny people are not too bad anyway, there will always be one, but you'll get that in gen chat as it is. I'll have a think and come back to it in a bit.

Hiya, yes the adult section warning would be good :)
The section would still need to be moderated, but the topic matter would be more liberal and relaxed :)
The concern is, as you rightly say Jill, once the adult section is in place we would feel compelled to allow images that to date have been removed.
Is this what members really want?
In reality, we have probably allowed more images than we should in some ways, graphic pictures of bunnies for a start
It is really the sexual inuendo that we need to consider very carefully, do we want and need this in a rabbit Discussion board :?:
If other forums allow it, should we do the same in RU :?: Or retain its uniqueness :?:
You members use the forum, so please let us know what you think.

Yeah I don't think anyone means to offend anyone, it just sort of happens. It may mean less work for admin too.

I don't think we should have seperate sections. That would alienate on group of people which isn't very nice for them plus I like talking to adults (I'm 15 and a half). I mean I love my friends but it's nice to talk to some older people sometimes who aren't my parents! I also hate the way some adults say things quietly while you are there as you are too young to hear it which is basically the same as having an adult forum and not letting 'kids' in. It makes me feel about 5 not 15. :( JMO. :?

I dont see that it will put people off joining. I personally think its a good idea to have a seperate adult section. There have been occasions when some of us adult folk want to share something funny with each other that may not be appropriate for the younger generation (oh god that makes me sound 50  ) I am sure we would all still use the other sections just as much, this way we would still be able to post what we want without things being deleted because they are regarded as inappropriate.

This sums up what I wanted to say! :D

Yeah I do see what you mean, but a lot of the adults have practiculary up sticks and left, or just pop by from time to time. There has been a change in age group since it started and the way it's going all the adults will disapear completely. Which will mean the end or bunny runs and emergency take in rabbit help. if people are either too young to drive or live with thier parents.

I agree that there seems to have been a big shift in membership since I joined too, and there are many more younger people on here - which I am all for, as its a great place for us all to learn whatever our age and I have some great friends on here of all ages

I do find that I am overly careful what I say in posts though - if someone posts something about buns or care of buns that I really do disagree with and think I could give some good advice on, my first thought is that I can't say it for fear of upsetting someone. I would hope that adults are less likely to react badly and happy for people to have different opinions as thats how good debates come about which we can all learn from. So perhaps this is a reason for an adult section, but saying that I have witnessed several adult sulks on here cos someone said something they didn't like.

I know that I am one of the ones SOAD is talking about as slipping away, I am spending less time on here, cos I do sometimes find it frustrating (thats not cos of the age mix of people but of some peoples attitudes).

I'm not sure how best to go about this though, the title of 'adult forum' makes it sound x-rated, but I'm not sure what to suggest. In my opinion it needs a forum where we can all be totally honest, and not overly reactionary, and really age is not going to determine that. (Btw, I pretty much disagree with the necessity to post 'adult' pics and things that were mentioned previously).

Tamsin, I'm sorry I've probably not been overly helpful!

Hi, I know which threads you are talking about here and my opinion is that young persons and adult sections would be a good thing.
I don't see how it would alienate anyone because most things would still go in general chat.
The younger readers could use the younger section to talk about things that older people don't nesacerily understand. Like problems with parents/homework etc
Whilst an adult section would be good for people to chat about their day and about topics which may offend.
The foot fetish thread was harmless enough but still someone found it offensive, whilst her complaint was reasonable it is still something that some people wish to discuss.
I know this is a rabbit forum but most of the peole here know each other and chat about things that you wouldn't with strangers.
Overall, I think it would be a good thing. We can chat about whatever we like (to an extent of course) without offending or upsetting anyone :D

Well I voted both, but now I've read all the comments I'm not so sure. Do we really need seperate forums? Or would a 'censor' icon do?
I belonged to an art forum which had this same problem. Many people objected to threads concerning the painting of nudes or just to 'risque' chat threads. Since it was an art forum, a huge debate then occurred on the subject of censorship. The end result was the introduction of a 'censor' icon which people could mark the thread with when they posted it. It let anyone with small children know not to look in the thread and left the rest of us rushing to those threads first, lol!
It sorted the problem out okay, and there weren't any more complaints.
Would that be a solution here?
Kate.
