Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
Hi  glad to hear your bun is doing well.Try not to worry too much about her nose (easier said than done, i know) my bun is recovering from nodular myxi & the whole front of his nose was a big nodule. It resulted in the front of his nose dying & falling off (this is a very rare thing to happen so don't panic!) what i'm trying to say is, Hugo's lost his nose & is still doing fine, so think positive! He was snuffly for weeks but was still eating & behaving normally so i know exactly how you're feeling, it's such a limbo when they are acting ok but still seem so ill.I'm sure your bun is through the worst now, she'll just be getting better from here on in
Don't pick at her scab, it'll come off when it's ready - Hugo got diagnosed about 7 weeks ago & still has some nodules that are nowhere near ready to come off. I used to bathe Hugo's everyday in a mild saline solution to help keep it clean, the vet said (along with baytril) it helped prevent infection. It also eased his breathing a little as it used to get clogged up with mucus. In my opinion they should be past the worst after 5 weeks but all buns react differently to it, if you're worried, get her checked out by the vetsounds like my jessie, she has a huge black scab on her nose, that still doesn't appear to want to come off after 5 weeks. i gently try loosening it to help it along!!
would you say after 5 weeks the worst is over?? i still get worried i might lose her

what was it that eased the breathing, the bathing with saline or the baytril, as i found baytril to have no effect?
