Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Eyelid rolled in?

New Kit
Hi everyone,

So i've got a problem with my bunny, Archie's an old rabbit (which I got from the RSPCA, they said they only knew that he was an adult, however he has lately developed cataracts and slowed down in his activity which suggests that he is now an old man).

He has recently had his eyes tested of which there was very little response in them, and I have just been to see him and one eye had a slight discharge to it. I looked at his eyelid, which has started to roll inwards and must be causing some discomfort to him as he doesn't like me touching it much.

Has anybody else had this problem?
How is it resolved?
Does anybody know what causes this in rabbits?
Does anyone know how much a vet would roughly cost to fix this?

Thanks all :)

Sounds like he needs to see a vet,if his eyelid is rolling inwards his eyelashes will be scatching the eyeball, very irritating and painful.,vets bills varysadly so maybe phone one and ask them.
