  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

lump accross base of William's scull????

I posted in another section about William's anxiety after going to a new vet for a nail trim (his regular was booked) - he's calmed down and feeling fine now, but when I was just petting him I noticed what seemed to be a long ridge along the base of his scull. I've never noticed it before and it alarmed me.

He had an abscess successfully removed from his cheek abut a year ago and there has been no problem with recurrance of that.

I was wondering if the lump was a result of his problems yesterday. They took him back to clip his nails while I waited in the front, so I wouldn't have seen if he hit his head. With him getting so upset after the trim, I was worried already that something happened. Also, he ran around the house ike mad when we returned yesterday. Slipping once or twice as he went around corners, so it's always possible he bumped into the wall or furniture.

Does this sound like a lump from trauma? And if so, will it go down just like a bump on the head would in a human? I'm going to watch it to see if there's any changes. But I'm hoping it's nothing serious. Despite his anxiety yesterday, he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort.
