Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i have read lots of comments on here, but im a bit confused!!!

i read how the salt licks are bad for bunnys!!!

i also read that the corn on the cob, bought from pet shops, the hard yellow corns, are also bad for them!!

i have both of the above, my bunny has gone through loads of the corn on the cobs and is always licking the salt licks!!!

should i take them all away from her???

has there already been much damage to her from having these??

am i a bad mummy??????

i wouldn't say your a bad mummy but these pet shops just package and label everything so nicely that it's had not to know whats right. with a balanced diet your bun shouldn't need the lick the corn i'm not too sure about but theres no nutriention in it so i wouldn't bother giving her it, plus it could make her windy.

I think the corn on the cob can make a bun fat if they have too many, but I feed mine the occasional treat of them too.

I've used mineral stones before now, although they don't seem bothered about those.

Long as your bunny's diet is 85-90% hay, & 10-15% veg & pellets, you should have a relatively healthy bun
