Orchard Grass vs. Timothy Hay?

Hi there :)

Is one superior? Mimi LOVES the soft pieces, & recently the lady @ the store recommended Orchard Grass - genius! I never knew it even existed, for yrs I'd be sorting the Timothy hay to find the pieces she loves.

Ended up buying both after reading somewhere Timothy is essential...is it really?

Thanks for any advice!

sorry i dont have an answer, would be interested in seeing other responses, as id like to know too x

I'm not sure anyone really knows, but all hays have a slightly different nutritional profile, so I personally think a variety is good. But some fussy bunnies will obviously only eat one type.

Not sure what you mean by 'superior'!

Rabbits in the wild eat all sorts of 'low nutrition' food, so that could alter the definition of superior :D

I think the best hay of all is that which your bunny eats freely and lots of, every day :thumb:

Thanks!! I meant better for her nutritionally/"would she be massively deprived of anything w/ just orchard grass?" That said - your replies are comforting! I think the Timothy ends up as her litter for the most part :p
