Bertie - very sad news

Hello RU friends. I’m sorry to give sad news in my first post of the year but I said goodbye to my precious Bertie on 31st December.

Bertie’s health had been in decline for some weeks but when an ultrasound showed a tumour pressing on his kidney I decided to let him go before his quality of life reduced further. It was a heart-wrenching decision. I will always have to live with knowing I could have kept him going longer… but deep down I do believe I did the right thing.

Sweet Bertie, I still love you so much. You will always be in my heart with Spenser. xxx

Oh Susiebun I'm so sorry you had to let Bertie go - he was such a handsome & cheeky looking bun. I always enjoyed seeing him.

For what its worth I think you absolutely made the right decision, I don't think they feel good with poorly kidneys, I do think maybe I should have taken Rudey sooner.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. I can appreciate how hard that must have been, but you really did the kindest thing for him. My Treacle had failing kidneys, I let her go on her 8th birthday, for the same reasons as you. Bertie and Treacle looked very similar, so like J & B, I always enjoyed seeing him too. Sending you a big hug, sweet dreams little Bertie xx

I feel privileged to have shared Bertie’s final days albeit via cyberspace. i am still lighting his candle every evening You have been very selfless by ensuring that he had a peaceful passing, a final act of love for him
