  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vacinations Long Overdue

xShellx

Alpha Buck
Marble hasnt been vacinated since 2010. He used to be vacinated against both vhd yearly from 2007-2010 and mixi 6 monthly 2007-2010.

I had no idea it had been soon long  I put it of when it was due as I did have 2 rabbits and the vets I used where expensive and then never got round to it.

I was using pets at home vets at the time and for the last year have been using a small independant vet for my dog and have been really impressed with them.

I have just booked my dog in for her vacinations and asked about the new combi vacination for rabbits, but they dont do that yet, only the single vacinations. Which was £21.85 for the mixi.

There is a neturing centre down the road from me that offers the new combi jab for £20. They arnt the best vets round here and mostly just do neturing and vacinations. Im tempted to go there for his vacination and then use my normal vets for everything else. Also called pets at home vets but they charge £40!

I would never take T&B to a vet where I had doubts about them. I think if the £40 is too much you don't have much option than going to your normal vet for the single mixi.

When will they be getting the combined vac?? Are there no other bunny savvy vets near by???

I changed from pets at home vets to the new one, As wasnt impressed with the pets at home and the new vets have been very good.

When I took my dog there last year for her vacinations she was pulling so hard and was so excited she had a massive nose bleed. The vet spent 30 mins treating her and packing her nose and only charged for the vacination. If that had happened at pets at home the bill would have been huge! Its such a shame they dont have the new vacine :(

I have used the neturing centre before for his vacination when I first got Marble 5 years ago with no problems. DIdnt use them for his neuter though.

Can your vet not order in the combi?
That's what mine does as they don't have it routinely;) (at least they didn't in the spring, they might have it in stock now!)
