  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Urgent advice/oppinions please.. 30% weightloss!!!!

Thanks everyone, and Hi Barbara!
Am currently awaiting a phone call from my regular vet. I know he is busy with surgeries today, so trying not to be impatient. Am feeling a bit calmer, but it was such a shock over the weight loss. Because he is heavy coated and moulting like crazy as well, visually, it's hard to see.
Ig his teeth are going to cause these sort of problems for him, I think I'd rather he just had the offending ones out than go through dentals time and again.
I just want him right.

Sadly that is seldom the best course of action if it is the molars. Hope the Vet gets back to you soon.

Does he seem incredibly skinny? I would have thought a 30% weightloss would be very noticeable.

Did the vet re-check the zero on the scales and try again? We had a bun come up at a huge weight, and after the scales were re-set she was normal again.

Is ur rabbit okay, i read the thread and wish you all the best of luck and that he gets better soon and can get back with his wife happy.

Sending vibes for Benj. (((((((((((Healing vibes )))))))))))))))))
I wonder if he has cracked a tooth root? Can he have xrays?

Mimzy doesn't need a large spur to stop him eating and cause other symptoms. I hope Benj will be okay.
((((((((((((Big hugs))))))))))))))
Hoping for a good vet visit. :)
