Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Un-neatured male has bloody urine and eggs in his fur

I just wish people wouldn't dive on a new member quoting the worst scenario and insisit on vets, quoting laws on the responsibility of parents where animals are concerned.
You are obviously a very responsible and vigilant bunny owner.... your bunny is lucky to have you
Hope you get these issues sorted and you keep posting xx

The eggs sounded to be fly eggs - oval, white etc, so no wonder people wanted to express their concern.

I have been PM'ing with the owner, and she was very glad of all the help, as she was very worried herself!

I didn't see the bits where people quoted laws. To be honest, those sorts of things aren't usually worth the paper they're written on (or computer they are typed on!). Helpful advice is what's welcome and I believe it was given here :D

I'm so pleased that you managed to get to the vets ok and appear to have sorted out the problem.

I hope I didn't come across as panicking you into seeking emergency treatment: but when you originally posted about yellow eggs, alarm bells rang as I had a very bad experience when I didn't know anything about flystrike.

Hope all cotinues to go well!

Update

Hey everyone
This isn't exactly related to the thread question but I just thought I would share anyway because you guys seemed to care about my bunny before.
Long story short, things have changed quickly and something different has happened. He's not looking good so I'll explain, but please don't feel obligated to read all of this or reply x

This morning I checked on him, gave him a few pellets and let him outside. He ran towards me and hopped around quite happily. I was happy and thought he forgave me from the vets yesterday (he flicked his feet out as soon as he got back yesterday haha).
Soon after though, he went back in his hutch and just laid in the corner.
Early afternoon, I came with some broccoli and he ate a good amount although when I checked back on him there was a tiny bit left. Still, he peed and there were droppings.
Later on, I pulled off broccoli leafs and he didn't touch them at all. Bearing in mind, he loves them. I opened the cage and offered to let him out in the garden but he wasn't interested. I stoked him for a while. He wouldn't move. Instead, he'd lay his head down. I began to worry a lot now as he was sat there for a while and so I brought him inside for warmth with a blanket because his ears were cold. I tried encouraging him to move but he didn't. He sat there just not moving. I was surprised at how he went from being fine earlier on to this bad so fast. I knew he was in a lot of pain then. I sat down with him in the kitchen and stroked him. He closed his eyes and sprawled out. I'll spare the sad details but I thought he was going to pass away right then. He was flat on the floor, unresponsive with his eyes closed. But then he moved upwards and his head tilted to the side from the pain, it was really hard to watch.
So quickly me and my dad rang the emergency vet and brought him in.

The vet checked him out and said his organs are swollen as they are blocked up with gas and his temperature has gone down meaning he is having trouble keeping them going which is so crazy to think about because yesterday the other vet said he is healthy despite the urine (which is unlikely to a blood), but I mentioned the urine and this vet doesn't know if the urine is related to the organ problem.

Anyway...ultimately, we had an option to put him down or take him in for specialist care. I wanted to give him a chance, even if it's a small chance, so he's staying overnight, but I feel assured because he will have pain medicine so he won't be in pain or at least a very minimum amount.
I can't fully remember but the vet will monitor him tonight, keep his temperature up, do a few x-rays, IV him so he has food/water and try flush out(or whatever he does) to get rid of the gas.
We really don't know if he'll make it by morning. He's really sick. But he's in good hands right now and that's the best that can be done so if he does go I would feel slightly better that he's in the best care he can get...

Sorry if this was really long. But since I have been updating about his health, I thought some people may want to know how he's doing.
Thanks

Oh my goodness I am so sorry to read this!

It sounds like your poor bunny has gas indeed, and because his temperature has fallen so low, he may be in shock. This could indicate a blockage. He is totally in the right place, and the things the vet are doing are all good and will help him.

Sending many prayers that he gets through till morning. Poor little man. I really really hope he gets through this x

I'm so very sorry to read that your bunny is so unwell. :-( it sounds like he's in the best place with pain relief and specialist care and he is lucky to have such a caring owner monitoring him. Sending lots of positive thoughts that he pulls through. X

Glad you got him to the vet! It sounds like the best place for him.
Thank you for updating (guilty of being a lurker)
Sending vibes!

Thanks everyone :)
He made it through the night but he's still being force fed and we're waiting for the gas to leave but I'm glad things have slightly improved. :)
(Sorry if I don't reply until later on if anyone replies)

My heart goes out to you & your bunny, what a week you've had. I'm pleased you & your dad got him some emergency treatment & so quickly. Sending lots of vibes for your bunny, I hope he recovers

What an awful time you are both having, more little boy, he's in the best hands so be assured he will get the care he needs.

Thanks everyone :)

Good Boy! (What's his name?).

Vibes for continued recovery :thumb:

Oh no! Poor little man. Sending him gentle nose rubs and hoping for a speedy recovery. :(

Awww no what an awful week....hope your bunny stays strong and starts eating/pooing....come on bunnykins you and your owner have developed fans.

Update..again

Aaaah thank you to everyone for the good wishes. :) I feel like I'm pestering everyone for some reason, so I hope I'm not annoying anyone haha.

Anyways, as an update, I'm not sure if I updated after that but he's doing pretty good at the moment.
He has a course of medicine he has to take and healthy foods offered to encourage him to eat and poop more. I'm just monitoring how he's eating and drinking and if he refuses we have to syringe feed him. He's good, still a little out of character but getting a lot better!

I also have a question, I noticed when he came back his ears lacked some fur ... It was wet so I thought maybe it's just water. But while watching him today, he started itching his ear again. The first vet I saw did a check by eye and said his ears are ok, but it's gotten a lot worse since last night. There's blood and a small cut there. Not to mention, he started shaking his head. I'm guessing it's ear mites... (the problems just keep on coming, right?)

I looked online for a quick solution until Friday and got some baby oil - it has paraffinum liquidum and parfum in. Can I put a few drops of this in his ears until Friday when he gets checked up again? I really don't want to bring him to the vets again because he's just come back this morning and he's settling in and seems to be eating okay.. he seems to be de-stressing which is really helping him. I believe he has pain medicine for his system anyway but that could help if he does have pain in his ears.
Thanks!

Nibbles!!

Glad to here he is doing better.

As to the ear, I wonder whether he has been on a drip and therefore, his ear is a bit bald, scratched and wet because of it? I would give the vet a ring and check. Usually, it isn't sensible to put stuff on without advice. :thumb:

Nibbles is a very cute name! Glad to hear he is doing better! Don't ever worry about posting in general and especially updates!
I'd call the vet and check and express your concern. They may have suggestions and depending could prescribe something as they just saw Nibbles. Worth a shot anyhow!
Good luck and healing vibes!
