  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

.. stress, stress, stress

Barnaby is doing well. He's staying in though (I could have insisted he come home but collecting him tomorrow would be easier and I don't think he will be too fussed either way and it will be easier for them to get meds etc into him). I'm also intending to do a refit of his pen and not even started yet so I get more time. I think it's loose stools they were concerned about, it was a poor line and the nurse who I don't know was difficult to follow. I got told that "the vet" (not named) who has been in charge of his care would rather be on the safe side and monitor him for another day.

Sounds sensible to me both for him and for you to do your refit :)

And now I have rushed Ludo to the vets. Vet says she feels a big stomach and he's really quiet. I am very worried about him.

I am sat in car park while they x-ray etc

Thanks for the good wishes.

Both bunnies back home. Ludo has a full stomach but no suggestion of a blockage. I can't remember blood glucose as everything is blurring, in normal range, 7ish, I think.

He has had Vomend and Rheumocam (whatever they are!!? And domperidone for a few days.

Oh, no, poor Ludo... I'm glad he's back home, and Barnaby as well. I hope he'll feel better soon. Lots of vibes for both him and Barnaby.

There is a supply problem of many brands of Meloxicam, Rheumacam is another type of NSAID :)
