Snow ? Anyone got any ?

Wow ! That is some snow ! Just back from a walk, snow ploughs have gritted roads, but it's all frozen over and looking lethal. We get mini ones too that clear pavements and paths, but we have to do our own drives by hand, or not

It is not unusual for us to get this much snow and more during a short period at least a few times each winter, with many more events dropping lesser amounts.
We have a law that requires us to clear our sidewalks of snow and the local government does not provide the service you have in your area, so it can add to the burden. We do not have public transportation available so we need a car to go to work/appointments so clearing the driveway is not an option, though on non-work days at least we do not have to go outside when it is still dark. We also cannot park overnight on the street from Nov to April (we got car stuck after coming home from work late and plow had it totally covered in snow the next morning, thankful it was not hit by the plow though). This morning it got above freezing and was raining, though we will get more snow later this week. The accumulations can vary considerably from neighborhood to neighborhood, so it is always a mystery when we leave the house if we are driving into better or worse conditions. Here they use rock salt to melt the snow on the roads, though it does not work right away or if temperatures become too cold. Some people purchase snow/winter tires to get more traction for winter driving.
