hi
thanks all for your lovely comments. Lucy is doing well the vets tell me. I am so grateful for the lovely offer as letting her go wouldhhave been so difficult.
I will admit i did feel like I had failed her but Twig has said that Lucy will have access to some rabbit specialists and that her natural diet may help her teeth without the need for such frequent surgery. Now I realise that this is the best possible thing for Lucy.
All my buns have everything they need , massive hutches , food hay and veg , willow toys and free range time... but one thing they dont get enough of is my time, and this is exactly what Lucy needs to keep well ... for someone to take the time to watch her behaviour at all times for any sign of reduction in eating. I didnt realise when I had a baby how little time my husband and I would have.
I dislocated my knee in October and was in a wheelchair for a couple of weels with my leg splinted , we all had a sick virus over xmas and in febuary my baby is seeing a specialist as she may have to have surgery on her skull because they believe her sutres have fused early.... all these are things that we dont expect to happen and things that I didnt account for or forsee when I took my bunnies on.
Lucy weighed 3.5 kg in august 2012 and now weighs 2.5kg but gained a winter coat so we could not see. It is clear that something (most likely her teeth) is causing her to suffer but one thing she is brilliant at is hiding when she is low. The two bunnies she lives with are big and boisterous and I think this spurs her on to hide any sign of weakness until its too late and she goes into stasis.
some of you may wonder what im goin on aboiut. I guess im just trying to explain how it wasnt a decision I took lightly and thank you for all those that understand this. I love all my bunnies and Im over the moon that Lucy is going to get the life she deserves.
thanks again , and to twig im eternally grateful
