  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
I've just got a new bunny - 2 days ago- he's a dwarf lop with no name yet!! But I've just started to notice that he sways his head about really slowly when he is sitting still. He's fine in every other aspect, eating drinking etc. I've never had a rabbit do this before does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? It's a very slow sway from side to side and only when he is sitting still i'm quite concerned about this, so any information or advice would be great! Thanx

Hiya,

How old is he? Where did you get him? Does he move around normally? What colour are his eyes? Red?

Tam :)

he's 10 weeks old and i got him from the local pet shop, i normally get my animals from rehoming shelters but he was all by hiself and so cute (and didn't look well cared for) so i had to have him. He has brown eyes. He moves around fine.

Umm, red eyed rabbits sometimes sway their head due to bad vision but is not usual to see this in a brown eyed bun. I think a vet checkup is in order just incase its early symptoms of something more serious. If he is going for his jabs soon you can ask them to check then :)
