Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Muscle spasm or hiccups?

Hello everybody,
Cookie is 7 months old. Cookie has a strange situation, I don't fully understand what happened. Cookie always does this behavior when awakening from sleep. But other times he never, only doing it when he wake up. Muscle spasm or hiccups..??

He's been doing this since he was a baby. He doesn't seem to hurt. But this behavior is very strong. When he do it next to me on the sofa, the seat is shaken. I'm giving a video link.

One of my previous bunnies did this as well, quite often. Like Cookie he most often did it after a sleep. Most of the times directly after a big yawn. We always thought it looked like hiccups. Our theory was that he swallowed some air or something like that since most of the times he had yawned just before. But I don't know if we were right. He didn't seem to be bothered by it at all :)
Our present bunny has never done anything like it :)
