Monday. U/D my vet has referred Mr Bennett to the specialist this afternoon.

vibes for you at the dentist and mr b with james and laura. xxx

Thank you.

Mr Bennett is having another dental although he only has one small spur. All at a loss what is really going on. Had to take him with a very dirty bottom, only cleaned him at 11pm the night before, however I thought it best Laura sees how bad it gets.

Mr Bennett has lost 40 grams, which is ok but he needs to lose 300 grams as he is overweight, another ongoing problem which I feel terrible about but at least he has lost 40 grams, that was before today.

Laura suggested stopping the pellets and go on a hay and vegetable only diet, rather than the pellet and hay only diet.

I think this is excellent advice. I hope he recovers well from his Dental xx

Sorry I missed this. Adding vibes from myself, Spenser and The Bad Bunny. xx

Thank you Susie.

Me too. I also think the crunchiness of the vegetable helped with his teeth, unlike the pellets.

Its going to be hard stopping them, Mr B loves his pellets. I have to be firm even if it means he chews more furniture in protest.

Thinking of you and Mr. B and I hope he can transition to a pelletless diet without too much destruction. Poor guy. :(

I'm lucky in that all three of mine gave up pellets without much fuss. I think they realized they felt better without them. Hopefully Mr. Bennett will too.

 He would have only had 4 or 5 small cadbury creme eggs and half a large hollow egg. I had one small creme egg on Sunday and felt sick all morning on Monday. Can't believe he wasn't hungry enough to eat something decent in the evening.

That would have been just a small snack to me. I'd still have managed my 3 meals on top.....:lol:

I hope Mr B feels better soon. x

Thanks. I managed to get the other 2 off easily, but that was easy as they are outside and can't beg. I have to be strong and not give into Mr B for his health's sake.

He made up for it today by eating two large pork pies.:lol:

Spenser: Is Mr Bennett on a diet? I am also on a diet. :( I only get one crunchie a day, and I feel Mummy is very mean with my pellets.

How is Mr B tonight? Is he ok after his dental? x

Thanks for asking. We brought Mr B home about 2 hours ago. He is groggy but nibbling a tiny of dill. There was more than the one spur I thought was burred, but he had a few, although small.

I feel terrible. Mr B put on 300 grams over winter. He is part Nethie so 2.66 kilo is large. It is so hard when they live inside and can beg and bother you endlessly for more food. I sympathize.

Mr Bennett hasn't been right since his dental. We are all wondering if he even needed the dental now. :( For the last two days he hasn't really eaten other than a bit of dill and I have had to give him fibreplex and metacam.

He has been chewing frantically on carpet and the bed legs, which is a first, as well as skirting boards and the wardrobe doors. I have to keep him locked up for at least 24 hours to prevent him getting a blockage. He isn't happy about this but have no choice.

Wendy vet gave Mr Bennett a stomach massage, gut stimulate and an injection of metacam. If he isn't better by Monday he will need a scan.

Oh no, poor Mr B :( I wonder if his constant chewing is a symptom that his body is craving fibre, I've heard that can happen. Was he chewing like mad before his dental? Maybe he was starting to need more fibre then which he wasn't getting because of the spur, and it's now caused a bit of a gut slow down.

Hope the lovely little chap perks up very soon xx

Sounds as though he may have an impacted cecum ? Did Wendy mention what she felt on abdominal examination ?

Wendy couldn't feel any blockages, which is good. His gut was slow, she said he needed to get his gut movements going again. His poos have been tiny, really small, not much bigger than chocolate sprinklings, no pun intended just can't think of what else is that small.

Thanks. I have heard this too. So weird he had every food available to him but no interest. He is locked in the dog crate now with hay only, he has nibbled on some so that is a start. I wonder if the orchard hay isn't is fibrous as regular farm hay.

Oh no :( Hope he just needs to get his guts going again and there's nothing else going on. Sending lots of vibes for Mr B xx

Poor Mr. B :( How long has it been since he's eaten a goodly amount of hay? Orchard grass worked okay for mine for a short while but if I'm going to get good poos out of them it really needs to be timothy. I get a nice third cut that has fewer stalks yet still keeps the insides moving decently. Mimzy also needs mature oat since he doesn't really like timothy anymore. :?

I've seen those 'pips' droppings before too when they only want herbs to eat. Scary things. Is he reduced on his pellets too? That might account for this as well since they are compressed fiber, even if they caused his mucky bum, that may have been where he was getting most of his daily ration from.

Come on Mr. B. We all want to see you feeling better. Please eat something healthy and have some nice poos. xxxxx
