Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hello everyone. Bella has been given meticam & anti inflammatory medication from vets. She had dental today & so is recovering right. Iv never given a rabbit medicine before so wandered if I could have advice on how to do this please? I have syringe. I’m scared I will hurt her mouth after dental as she had her molar spurs done. They did say I could put it in her food but not sure about that incase she doesn’t take it. I have such a small amount of the ani inflammatory/pain one which she’s to get for 3 days. Thank you

If Bella is eating you can put it on some food. I gave Rosie hers on some Brocolli, some use a Shreddy or some Banana if she likes that.

You can use a small piece of bread (about the size of a finger end) to soak up the meds as well, if you are sure she will eat it. Dosing directly into her mouth is the most certain way to make sure she's had the full dose.

Morning Toni, thank you. Bellas eating thankfully. I tried giving her the medicine today put was near impossible. I phoned vets & they said also about the food. Iv don’t that now so hopefully she will eat it all up & not realise it’s on it. If not she can go in for it in injection form xx

Morning shimmer, thank you. I tried today by mouth but it was nearly impossible. Iv put it on food to try that way & phoned the vets this morning. They said if not she can come in & get it by injection. Thankfully she’s eating & drinking xx
