  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I've been told I won't have Doughnut for much longer :(

So sorry to read this :(
I hope you both enjoy the time you have left together, however long it may be.

Such a brave poppet  Whats the high calorie cat pro feed? i need to discuss something for Rudey with my vet. a normal bunny would be massively overweight on the amount of dual care Rudey eats but there is nothing on him. Today I get delivery of 4 more bags, he's been through 6 or 7 since you introduced us to it

It's called vet cal pro gel. She has 1ml 3 times a day. It's high in calories so definitely try it. She loves it.

Thanks. I'll ask my vet if she thinks its right for Rudey - he has a very sensitive tum. I'm pleased Doughnut finds it nommy

Vibes for health from Pitsi, Milka & me!
Milka struggled with her weight too (she was 920gr on 14/12/19) & today I was very happy to find that she weights 1.230gr!
Her diet consists of hay, bunny nature pellets (8pieces twice a day), fresh greens, herbs weeds etc. The only change to help her gain weight was that I added a tsp oats (starting on 15/12) & 1/2tsp Anima-Strath (starting on 21/12).

She was unwell over night. Not really eating and lots of runny poops everywhere. She was hiding in her log cabin when I went to feed her. Syringe fed her and gave her meds and added in infracol. Had to go to work. Not confident what I will find. Tummy making lots of noise. Think it's empty so hopefully she's more full now and less gassy

Sending lots of vibes for Doughnut. Hopefully the syringe feed will have made her tummy feel better.

Oh dear, I really hope that her tummy will settle today. Sending lots more vibes for her xx

Thanks. On my hour and a half journey home. Left work as keep crying and not sure what I'll find but will have time to take her to the specialist today if necessary or if she is still with us

Thank you. She hasn't eaten anything so I syringe fed her, she seemed to want some food as was biting the syringe! After one syringe full and her calorie laden syringe she didn't want any more, gave some more infracol too.

Seeing my specialist tomorrow so will see what he says.
