  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i need advice please for matt, he's not well *back to normal :)*

just got them a plate of herbs and he's eating but we think he's struggling to pick it up. once he does he's ok but we're going to book him in at our normal vets as soon as they open and go that morning if we can and then get him checked and then leave him there to have a dental if they say he needs that.

matts doing so well. he's gradually eaten more and seems to be eating hay now no problem. he's even just chased bisc around the room and he looks so much brighter now. :D

i didn't end up having to syringe feed matt because he was eating normally again not long after my last post. he doesn't seem to be struggling and has eaten sooooooooo much hay to make up for lost time it seems! he's been super hyper and is looking very happy.

continuing with the maxolon for a couple more doses but he seems completely fine now.

thanks everyone.

it amazes me how quickly he responds to treatment. before the vets he was so weak and didn't even have the strength to sit up for long. as soon as he had the fluid injection and metaclopramide he looked a bit better and then from being home he just improved so quickly.

i checked my previous threads and it was march this happened and it was just stasis, not to do with his teeth. we didn't know what caused it then but he responded well to treatment then aswell and got better so quickly.

you should see him though, it's like he's making up for lost time. he's in such a good mood
