  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I am glad to hear that everything seems to be normal :) Did they also check his hormone levels (testosterone) from the blood samples ?

I always think it's worse when you know something isn't quite right but can't get a definitive answer what's going on. ^^ What Jane said about hormone levels? Hoping you get some answers or he feels better sooner. x

I am not sure. I don't think Andy mentioned hormone levels.

My vets are able to carry out routine urine and blood tests, but these were sent off to an independent lab for a full test. Would they normally test hormone levels, or would this have to be specially requested.

I'll have to ring up and find out.

It sounds like you're going through a similar thing to me and Blueberry. Except his bloods showed up signs things were wrong which is why he's having x Rays today. I'll find out at 7.30 when I collect him what's next and what we know know/don't know. Blueberry started off losing a little bit of weight since last July, but it's only the past few weeks that he's deteriorated so rapidly. Maybe you're at an earlier stage if your bun does have the same thing. Or it could be completely different. I'm assuming they've ruled out parasites?

Sending hugs, I know you probably feel you're imagining it if you're anything like me when there's no signs but you know something's wrong xx

It would need to be specifically requested on the Lab Form
