New Kit
Hi,
I just wanted to ask for advice/share my story for future ref (if I get a resolution that is...)
I have a lovely lil bun called Goji (bf named him after his fave metal band, Gojira lol) about a week ago he seemed to be a lot quieter, lethargic, eating & pooping a bit less, maybe 50% of what he usually does.
Took him to the vets who found dental spurs & a much more worrying lump in his belly They said initially to give painkillers, syringe feed & gut stimulants. In case it was an impaction & to build him up a bit for any potential surgery.
After this he seemed to pick up a lot, took meds like a trouper, refused critical care but started eating more veggies & hay. Seems to be almost back to normal, I'd say he went up to about 85% of his normal intake & output.
2nd vet visit yesterday to do the dental procedure & xrays of tummy. Dental all okay, not too many spurs.
But the xray has totally baffled the vet :? She said there is a lump, she can't tell what it is, but seemingly it's giving him no pain/trouble, but more oddly it looks to her like his tummy is filled up with something that looks like grit, but she can't see any gas. I could see the 'grit' on the xray, it was really odd. She said it almost looks like he's had a fecal eruption internally - but that doesn't make sense as he's still eating, pooping & seems happy & bright in himself.
Luckily the vet is great & is sending his xrays off to an exotics specialist for them to look over & see if they have any ideas. But it's now a waiting game. It's so confusing for us - we've no idea what it is or if he's in pain & just plodding on (like bunnies do!) breaks my heart to think that there might be something seriously wrong
Don't suppose anyone has any ideas/experience with anything like this??
Thanks,
Lynne.
