  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ginger needs your biggest vibes please

All fingers and paws are crossed here and sending you the BIGGEST vibes we can for little Ginger, at least you know shes in good hands at the vets and with Biscuit by her side

Apparently Ginger has now stabilised, she's very weak, but she's still with us. She's not eaten anything herself, but is being syringe fed and is trying to fight the nurse which is a good thing.

Shes had bloods taken, is still having pain relief and fluids. Teeth have been checked, good condition for Ginger.

As of now, we have no idea, but she's stable at least.

I hope giving her the vaccination hasn't done this in some way :/

OMG Gray how worrying for all of you!
What an amazing bunny boy Biscuit is!!

I really hope Ginger is gaining strengh and is able to come home soon!

Oh I do hope she will be ok, I'm sending you all the vibes I can for her recovery. Wishing and hoping all's well. What an amazing bond they have. Keeping everything crossed for you

Could it be related to her kidney problems? :?

So glad shes stabilised, sending a truck load more vibes her way. Keep us updated xxxxxxxxxxxxx

After having his kidney out (leaving one that worked well) Damson reacted very very badly to vaccinations.

Thats where we're right now, hopefully the bloods will come back with an answer.

I guess if one or both of her kidneys have finally given up the ghost, it would be similar?

Artie had a very bad skin response to his myxi jab but otherwise you wouldn't have know he'd just been vaccinated (that was only 3 weeks after surgery). He hasn't had the VHD jab yet, that's due at the end of May (dreading that).

Having seen how Artie was before the kidney removal and after it my guess would be that if she has a kidney that is not good ie potentially causing discomfort then that would be harder to cope with than having the only one but a good kidney. I was told that the one kidney can do 80% of the work that two did by a few days after surgery, I don't know if 80% is as good as it gets, I keep forgetting to ask.

Of course if both kidneys are compromised then that's much harder to find a solution to:(

i'm glad she is still fighting :) Sadly it wouldn't be unexpected for the vaccination to cause such a dramatic reaction but equally, she could have been fine. You had to try. i hope she keeps fighting and can get back to where she was.

Flameyface sends nose donks.

Oh no poor Ginger! Such a good job Biscuit woke you up! I hope you gave him plenty of treats. ;)

Sending vibes for her to get well again. It is so awful having a sick bunny but it's brilliant that she has owners (and a husbun) who cares so much for her.
