Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi folks just wondered if I could tap into the forum bunny peeps for some advice re Galucoma please

Bungo has been doing really well on Azopt eye drops but recently had an increased reading in his left eye which was previously 8 in pressure and is now 21 which is just over normal but it's a fairly big increase in a short space of time.

The vet eye specialist who has been brilliant has said they are now concerned that we may struggle to keep the pressure in his left eye under control and they are concerned to pop him on anything other than Azopt which has not undergone trials in rabbits - so their feeling is it's Azopt or eventual eye removal which I'm not sure I want to put him through as he is an elderly gent:love:

Have any of you great guys or gals had any other drops which have made a significant difference without drastic side effects -

This guy seems fine and happy in other respects but you can see a definite bulge to his left eye now - he is also having false tears to help ensure the eye doesn't become too dry.

Any info would be much appreciated he's a wonderful guy and just want to ensure I have covered all the options - I think the problem for the eye specialists is that they don't see a huge amount of bunnies they reckon just about 20 per year but I carnt fault there help so far they have been wonderful with him.

I have a bun with Glaucoma, she was diagnosed at 6 months old. Her Left eye was completely uncontrollable (was up to 30-something before removal  ) so it was removed, but her right is maintained with Trusopt and pressure is stable at 12.

Hi we are in a similar position with an elderly bunny with glaucoma. Fozzie is on mydriacyl, maxitrol and metacam. My vets didnt want to try anything other than these Meds, but the pressure in her eye hasn't actually reduced, so can't say if they'd work or not!?

How old is your bunny?

Is Bungo (love the name) on any pain relief? I'm told glaucoma can be quite painful. Fozzie is on loxicom anti-inflammatory and pain killer. Also, keeping the eye really well hydrated helps a lot with false tears or we use lubrithal gel.
