Shan&Chibi
New Kit
Okay, so I made a post last week I think now, which gave all the details of the situation with Chibi.
He's had stitches on one of his hocks and the other hock was seriously sore too, so after about a week of bandaging and vet wrapping both back feet, we've upgraded to some padding on his feet directly with a little Sudocrem to hopefully soothe his feet and a baby sock over the top to keep him from chewing his feet/licking the Sudocrem off.
My problem now is, he's pulling at the sock (only the sock on his stitched up foot) and in the process he's made the front of his leg sore. Not sure if he's been biting or licking it too much but I'm now paranoid that he's going to continue to make sores all over his leg. I feel like no matter what I do it just creates more problems and I'm really struggling now
I've seen people have used bitter apple spray and put a little of that on the bandage? But I'd then be scared he'll just carry on licking/biting his legs and still make them sore. I'd rather him chew on the sock than his leg.
I've also seen people having to use a collar but I really, REALLY don't want to do that to him. He's been doing so well and his stitches are healing nicely so he's nearly in the clear and I fully understand how frustrating it must be for him but I'm really at a loss.
He's got plenty of toys and boxes and his regular set up of hay and food around so it's not boredom.
I'm wondering if it's itchy and is there something better than Sudocrem I can use to ease that?
I hate seeing my boy like this and I know you've got to be cruel to be kind but I just thought I'd put it out there on here just in case others have had a similar situation to this?
Thank you in advance, guys and girls!
