Blueberry's mystery illness UD p145 got through to Molly

We all do our best by them, I never ignore my gut instict/6th sense with them. When you know you know, it's so strange and it's happened to me on several occasions now with my most recent rabbits, Daisy twice lately. At the beginning of Feb she had a really bad inner ear infection and recovered thankfully after being admitted and I took her back last night as something wasn't right and she is now blind in both eyes but she is managing fine and is fine in herself, it's just funny how sometimes you know but can't quite put your finger on it.
He looks a sweet little thing and I am sure the cause will be found soon  xx

I'm glad others have the sixth sense with their rabbits too. I do feel like I'm crazy sometimes when I walk in and go "he's not well" and others are "in what way, he looks fine" and I'm "I don't know what or how, but I just know there's a problem" I'm sure the men in white coats will come for me one day

Waiting for Molly to ring me, I'm told it'll be before 4pm... I daren't leave my phone alone

Goodness, your sixth sense is your internal smoke alarm - don't ever ignore it!

I had a very weird problem with one of my buns - his behaviour for three whole days was completely extraordinary. So much so I wish I had video'd it ... When I took him to the vet, she patiently listened to everything and offered to refer him to a specialist. She had no idea what was going on either ... But she never dismissed my sixth sense.

Having a 'sixth sense' is not the problem, it's not trusting it that's the issue :thumb:
(Tell that to the men in white coats )

Oh I do trust it always nowadays! The rare occasions when I haven't I always regret it so if my sixth sense says jump I ask how high. "Better safe than sorry" is my new motto such as "you can't be too careful"

I rang the vets at 4pm as I hadn't heard from Molly to be told she'd just gone into a consult and was booked up til 6.30 so they'd ask her to ring me then. Just rang them now as she hasn't and the surgery is now closed again  I'm finding it very hard to keep my patience tbh, I keep telling myself she's an excellent vet and very popular, but I'm getting a bit annoyed now that I've been told several times they'll ask her to call me and she hasn't. So either they're not passing the message on or she's too busy/forgetting. Which is fine but I really want/need these answers to these questions for Blueberry's sake.

I know it's so worrying, I hate waiting for the vets to call - similar thing happened when Daisy was back home I was supposed to have an appointment over the phone as long as she was still doing OK but never actually did but understand how busy thru sometimes can be.

Have you heard anything from Molly yet?

Yay I got through about 11 *does celebratory dance*

This new blood test is to check why there is globulin (sp?) in his blood when he is negative for EC. So that's an abnormality we need to investigate. We need to wait for the results and then take it from there. He's to stay on the Zantac and metacam until we get to the bottom of this as he's doing well ATM.

I also asked about the spinal problem. This is something completely different that we've just discovered whilst trying to work this thing out. It's not related to this and it's not causing any problems whilst he's young but he could start to struggle with his mobility as he ages  I can't think of my bouncy little boy becoming immobile like Dexy, I don't think he'd like that very much. But we're aware of it now which is good as if/when it causes trouble, we can get right onto it. Rabbits can have physiotherapy too apparently! and they like it and do well with it! You really do learn something new everyday!

In the meantime I'm going to gush about him some more  he follows me everywhere and when I stand still to measure out his meds, he periscopes and rests his paws on my leg  "hurry up mummy". I cannot describe how much I love him, there are no words to describe the bond we have, I absolutely adore him and I melt everytime I think how good he's been and all the cute things he does  I could just hug him and squeeze him and snuggle him forever

Glad you got through!

Hopefully you will get to the bottom of this, I am sure you will :).

It sounds like you have a very close bond and I'm sure he appreciates all you are doing for him right now! He sounds such a little sweetheart, they do the sweetest little things at times that just make you melt

Keep us updated! :)

Only just seen the latest update, hope the blood tests come back soon and it's something easily sorted :thumb:

Awww. I know just what you mean about melting.
