  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Another stasis/bloat thread

Thank you again for your support

Lolly has taken it easy today and been mostly snoozing, munching green things and pooping.

Just out of interest can any one tell me what sort of time span is normal for them to start taking an interest in hay and exercise. She will happily scoff down the greens, but won't touch hay at the moment. I have offered timothy, botanical, meadow and bog standard bedding hay and various dry herbs but nadda interest.

hay is usually the first thing alvin starts to eat again... did the vet check her teeth, ive read that a reluctance to eat hay is sometimes down to spurs and its too uncomfortable to munch hay

Her teeth are good, so I think she is just being a fussy madame. She has started eating hay now because I took away all the green stuff for a few hours last night just as a experiment.

Unfortunately Lolly now has a pooey bum and is stinking the lounge out. Is this normal or just a result of her only wanting to eat greens? I hope it clears up soon.
