Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dead mozzy stuck to Holly!

**Bonnie**

This morning there was something stuck in Holly's fur so i pulled it out. It looked like a dead mozzy but was all hard like it had been dead for ages!!!

Im really para now - she has been done for Myxi and i guess not all mozzy's carry it but is this something i should be concerned about??

Hi Bonnie. Are sure it was a Mozzie and not a small tick?
As Holly has had her Myxo Vacc she has the max protection available. Just because you actually SAW the Mozzie puts her at no more risk than all the hundreds of little blighters that have no doubt been around her but you have not seen them.
You could consider Mozzie netting for the hutch/run plus Xenex repellent spot-on treatment for H+A :D :D

Hi Jane,

maybe it was a tick...it kind of looked like a big green fly?!?!

I got this sticky things from the pet shop that attract and kill flies but its done buggar all!!!

I think im being paranoid.

Will get some netting me thinks to ease the paranonia - nearly made myself late as i was sitting there studying Holly and this flippin' fly!!

much as we all hate them flys exsist for a reason. They help clear away dead animals. In the wild when an animal dies it would just lay there rotting. Flys lay eggs on it so that there maggots will eat the body. Every insect and animal is part of a food chain. This chain is vital to everything working in nature. As an example if there were no bees to polenate plants and trees there would be no food to eat. There is always a reason for a creature to exsist. val
