  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

A bit worried about bobo

Last night Bobo didn't quite seem himself - he didn't want to come out for his run although that in itself is not unusual as he is a lazy git...but he didn't seem to keen on his bed-time treat. We did see him eating it though a bit later on the web cam.

This morning I went to do breakfast - and there were at least 3 large splats - what looked like big uneaten caecals on the floor that had been trodden on and gone splat. They had dried out abit so am thinking they were done late last night/early hours this morning. But I've never known him not to eat his caecals - his wife Harley on the other hand sometimes doesn't so it's abit tricky to figure out who they belong to.

Bobo ate his breakfast, drank water and was eating hay when I left him for work. Harley has done the same thing - and both seem okay in themselves - so just wondering if either one/or both just had a slightly dodgy tummy last night. They both ate their 7pm herbs okay - it was just the bed time treat he didn't want to know about for a bit. I will be keeping an eye on them of course - I will take them to the vets if necessary but was just wondering if anyone else get this with their buns?

I've had a very rare uneaten caecal from Spenser, but only if they come when he is too tired and grumpy to bother eating them!

Hope Bobo will be ok. x

I never get any from my two but then they are massive hay eaters. I don't think it's too much to worry about if they are both eating, drinking and pooping normally now but just keep an eye like you said. Also have you checked their bums are clean? I'd worry about them wandering round with dirty bums in this warm weather. Although I'm sure they probably would have cleaned themselves.
