Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

At the vets :( UD feeling completely better!

Loads of vibes for harvey.

Going through this right now, i know how scary it is, so hugs for you too.

Let us know how you get on x

Back home. Vet said abdomen was soft and agreed I have caught whatever is wrong fast :)

He had three shots: lexicom, metoclopramide and zantac. We have come home with critical care, lexicon and metoclopramide. Teeth are ok, she said they're a little uneven, but not very sharp, no redness or ulcers too.

We got home, he stomach pressed a bit, but accepted some of his breakfast (rabbit royale) but not herbs (his usual post-stasis favourite). He's now gotten up and is hopping about, and finishing his brekkie and has a mouthful of hay :D still turning his nose up at herbs though so he's not 100% :( he's looking a LOT brighter though! And he's munching hay right now :D

The vets are so lovely :D the vet was saying how they all remember him and the vet nurses were saying they can't understand how such a pampered rabbit gets ill :p

Lilly was weighed... she was 3kg last April.... Today she was 3.37  and is now slightly overweight  someone is joining Harvey on his diet now!

Lots of eating and pooing vibes for Harvey. Hope he gets pain relief and something to encourage eating. Frosty had to be admitted for this last week. So scary. He is fine now. Was as soon as he had received a jab and got home to his girlies.

He's not stopped eating his hay :D yay!

Apart from the one really bad week last year (where he was off food for nearly a whole week, in the week before my exams!) he normally does respond well to pain relief so it must have worked!

I'm so relieved! I get so scared when he stops eating :( especially after him being so poorly last year!

Thanks for the vibes and thoughts x

(he's fast asleep now, I want to wake him up to make sure he's still got an appetite, but he usually sleeps at this time of day anyway! I think I'll let him sleep for an hour, and then take him a platter of treats!)

He's been playing and running and being cheeky  he's eaten herbs now and took some of my banana! Lots of hay eaten too :D so I take it that all his jabs helped!!!

So happy! He looks silly with his shaved ear though  still adorable though

He's for a happy expression on his face now :D eyes and ears in happy positions rather than looking miserable like this morning

Great news!!! Why does he have a shaved ear?

They take bloods to check his glucose (and something else) before they give him gut stimulant. The vet said that with blockages the readings are often high, so it's a good test to rule out a gut blockage. Wouldn't want to be giving gut stimulant on a blockage because it can perforate, she was pretty sure there was no blockage from feeling, but they do the tests just to make sure. They were within normal limits though :D
