Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Blue spot on eye of my rabbit

Hi,
Just wondering if you guys have seen or heard of any blueish grey spot on the white part of a rabbit's eyes and what it could be. Mozart has this blueish grayish blue coloured part on the white part of his eye. Its not sticking out or outside of the eye but it looks like its part of the eye or from the inside of the eye. I'm slightly worried because there was also a bit of reddening but now its gone. I've already booked an appointment with my vet in about 2 days time but just wanted to check if its anything serious and I should see the vet earlier.
Thanks

Hey, I know this might sound silly but he/she might have scratched it maybe?

Finsbury scratched his and it went a little red and closed for a while then when it was open it was an odd colour. Vets will be able to confirm...

hope its alright!

Something happened to my Oreo that sounds like this - she scratched her eye, and then it went blue over the space of a week or so (and red from blood clots inside). The vet said that the blue is a sign of infection inside the eyeball - Oreo is currently on her second lot of eyedrops, the first lot (£20 a bottle )healed up the external scratches and she is now on the second lot which is addressing the internal infection. I can see the brown of her eye coming back, so I think they're working.
