Her rabbit is a two year old house rabbit, giant called Rosie.
Anna (owner) says: Basically,it's a suspected fur blockage or a blockage of food due to excess fur lining the gut since all symptoms and behaviour are the same as all the other times. Just this time,it keeps coming back within days and it's never done this before. Brushing her all the time to get rid of excess fur. She's just eaten some carrot tops on her own, gonna try and get another Treat Um in her before bed. I think what also helps to stave away gas when she gets like this is,when she moults,i start putting Pro C Probiotic on her food,it helps to stop too much bad bacteria forming and since that is already in her system when these episodes occur,i'm sure that's why the moulting problems never turn into gas from the lack of eating.
Last Tuesday night she stopped eating, hardly ate Wed but Wed night started eating fragrant herbs again and hay and pellets on Thur. She stopped eating Sat night, started eating again Sunday afternoon and for the rest of Sunday,Monday,Tuesday and part of yesterday, was eating like a horse.
She now hasn't eaten for 6 hours, there have been 12 black poos and she is lazy as always, although no signs of pain. I'm very concerned, told her she needs to get to a vet but she is relunctant as Rosie gets stressed and in the past stops eating at going the vets!
Does this sound like hair balls or something else? Any advice will be gratefully received.
