  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi there thanks for the support. took cookie to vets this morning and she said it could be viral so he got bayrill/recovery for the next two days but to go back on friday with him. to keep an eye on him till then. if cookie goes downhill rappidly i have to take him in right away and they will see him. vet wants to check him out again on friday but it could be mixys she said. he is still looking weak but he is starting to drink and eat a little now. moved him in to the garage in a box with beach towels to keep him warm.is it ok to give a bowl of water to him instead of a bottle. ps he wasnt vacinated didnt think he would need it as he is an only pet and our garden is all fenced off so nothing can get in.once again thanks for all your support and kindness. thanks brian:cry:

Yes you can give him a bowl of water, all rabbits will know how to drink from a bowl. Just makesure there is a backup incase it gets spilled. Unfortunately myxi can be brought into your garden via neighbours cats etc :(

I hope he gets well
