Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

post malocclusion operation and he is still dribbling!!

Hi, my rabbit had his operation on some burs he had on the 17th of this month.
He has been having .7 ml of Meta-cam twice a day since then.
He is still dribbling though.
The vet took an x-ray of his jaw and said the roots are fine.
Why is he still dribbling?
Any suggestions as I am sooo worried as I lost a bunny to this a few years ago. (Did not go to a specialist vet like an idiot. Thought they would all offer the same level of care.)
I have goggled this and searched on this forum but cant find any thing.
The vet who did this is a rabbit specialist.
He is going back to the vets tonight but I just need some idea of what to expect.
I am terrified it is going to be an abscess although I cant feel any swelling.
Please give me some ideas!
Will my babbit be o.k.?
Many thanks.
Katherine

unfortunately it's not possible to tell exactly what the problem is as dribbling is a symptom of any cause of mouth pain/distortion and without actually looking into the mouth it would just be guesswork to give a diagnosis. I would keep on with the pain relief (metacam) and see if your vet can give you the information you need.
Good luck with your appointment
