  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have one little bunny, Bubbles, a minilop... who lives in the shed! He is currently on a treatment of Baytril and is due to go back to the vets next week! Bubbles was attacked through his run a few months back and had a couple of his paw/fingers bitten off... he had to had a couple amputated and so one of his paw is taking a long time to heal... I took him to the vets and they gave me an antibiotic which I had to rub on his paw... Well afetr a week or so I noticed that Bubbles had sore eyes, which I thought might have been from the solution... but then I noticed he had a wet nose! He was eating, etc like normal... but I took him back to vets and to cut a story sort he is now on Baytril and his nose seems much better!

As for my other two french lops, who live in a converted shed, with two massive hutches, one on top of each other!
Snoopy seems fine, always trying to get near Bubbles, as they both, males, have abit of a love affair... but been keeping rabbits all seperate. He has no Runny nose... But then again he his the biggest of my rabbits at 9 months!

My little Bebe, who is 6-7 months, she is still pretty small and I noticed today, she has a very wet nose! Eating lots and still loves her strokes, cuddles, etc. I am going to the vets with her on Monday!

Apart from having lots and lots of hay and boxes to cuddle up in... She seems to pull all the hay out of them! I have used a full load in her hutch and the others... I really want them to be warm! I put waterproof cover over the cages at night... is that ok? What else can I do?

Well I think I might have said a little to much, but hope you enjoy reading!
I would love some advise please?
And again sorry for all the writing!

Thank You All so much!
