I remember when I asked my wife what she wanted for her birthday, and she exclaimed “a birthday bunny!” Which was probably almost exactly a year ago today.
So off we trooped to the local pets at home, and we saw Frank and Spencer up for adoption together, they were between 10 and 12 weeks old at the time.
Frank (the black rabbit showing off his chubby belly) was a character. While Spencer is more reserved and not very outgoing, Frank always wanted to see what was happening.
He always wanted to see what was on the other side of the cushion, and whether he could eat it.
He always loved an adventure and a bit of exploration
But was more than happy to settle down for some strokes from time to time
Sadly yesterday he stopped eating his nuggets, and would only nibble a little bit of kale every now and then.
We took him to the vets but, despite doing everything we could he left us this morning and I found him at 0530.
My wife and I have shared many tears over this this morning, and he has left a cheeky bunny shaped hole in our hearts.
But, for the brief time he was with us he made us so happy, lots of laughs at him being a plonker, moving the bowl once centimetre to the left, or doing the tiniest yawns. And watching him and Spencer running around, binkying and getting into all sorts of mischief.
We hope we gave him a good life, and that he was happy with us. We didn’t always get things right, but we did the best that we could all the time.
Run free mr Frank, and we will see you at the rainbow bridge.
