  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Any spare vibes

With Sylar I almost expect it but it always hits me hard with the others... she full of beans now. Munching away in her litter tray.

Oh Bea-elzeebub! Don't do that to us!

I'm really pleased she's perked up again now and I hope you're able to get to the bottom of whatever's going on with her leg. xx

It was both legs :( She was dragging them behind her.

I hope you get to the bottom of it all & more importantly no more occurrences. It sounds like its all forgotten for Bea.

I had a bun who once lost use of her back legs (for an evening) but she didn't drag herself, she just couldn't get up. She also lay with her back legs out which whilst usual for most buns was not something she'd done before. It didn't return for her. Her specialist said it was not uncommon but I'm sure she meant that in the context of Noodleys other health issues? I'm thinking it might be worth discussing EC treatment with your vet when you discuss xrays ?

I've already started her on Panacur tonight :) Will ask about continuing with the metacam for a little longer too.

Crikey, what a fright you have had  I am glad that Bea appears to be OK again now. I think you are wise to consider having spinal Xrays done at some stage x

You wouldn't believe it. Fell asleep on the sofa, went upstairs and Hiro was under the chair, shaking like a leaf and refusing to eat. The same thing has happened a few times in the last 6 months so our vet gave us meds incase it happens again, we rang them to ok it first and he's just had them.
I keep wondering if it's too hot in the house? It's on the high side but I aim at between 16-21° and it's 21.8 so nothing to drastic.
Argh Another sleepless night. 2 sick rabbits and a limping Hamster. I guess they do say it comes in 3's!

Oh Lordy :(

I hope Hiro will start to feel better soon. Is it very thundery/humid in your area ? Thundery/'heavy' atmospheric conditions can cause some ear/sinus pain in Rabbits with a history of ear disease/URTIs. So maybe Hiro has a sore head/earache x

There was a bit of thunder earlier today but it was at around midday and he's been fine until when I found him like this at 4am. It is very humid though.
His tummy always feels ok and the turn around is always quick. My vet also suggested that he may get headaches occasionally. He's also got a deformed cochlea so I don't know if that could cause these kind of problems for him?

'So err... what's all the fuss about?!'

No access to any electrical wires!

Oh Bea-nut! What are you about scaring your mum like that???

And Hiro now too? (I hadn't heard about the hamster, but vibes on the way for all!)

Really, Roxy, you need a break, seriously. :? The stress must be unbelievable! :(

((((((((((((((((((Healthy animal companion vibes en route!))))))))))))))))))) xxxx

ETA: I didn't know about humid weather/thunder being an issue either. It has been humid here (for the beach) and I think the bunnies aren't used to it as the Arctic is a drier climate, so wondering if it's affecting mine as well? :?

Morse would get a headache/earache when it was thundery or humid, due to his chronic ear problems x

Thank you! Hiro is nibbling now so another quick turnaround for him. It doesn't seem to be his guts so I'm leaning towards head aches. Jane, do you have any links or info regarding atmospheric changes possibly causing headaches etc? I will definitely be making a note of weather conditions, temperature and humidity going forward. Maybe we will see a pattern.
MimzMum, that is certainly an interesting theory. Just caught up on uour your thread and happy to see that there have been no further rolling incidents!

The only links I have are links to what I have witnessed first hand with Morse and 2 other Rabbits with chronic Otitis (Colonel Colin and Patrick) . I also know that I get dreadful sinus pain and earache when it's humid. I have chronic sinus problems and dodgy eustachian tubes

My goodness what a stressful few hours you've had! I'm pleased to read that both rabbits seem OK now. It is worrying though about Bea and I'm wondering whether the "bang" had anything to do with her symptoms. It would seem odd if they weren't connected from your description of what happened. X-rays would be reassuring.

I hope that today will be calmer for you and I'm sorry that you had to leave the theatre.

Topping up the vibes for both, but so glad to hear bea has bounced back.

So glad I popped on here this Morning, I also a had trouble with Bailey last night as he wouldn't eat his pellets at 7pm, sitting hunched & then later wouldn't eat anything. So on the vets advice gave him some metacam, Zantac and also syringed him some water as I wasn't sure if he was too hot.

I checked on him at 1pm and he was eating and grunting - complelty different rabbit and remains fine this morning. So I'm also considering it may have been too humid for him and maybe caused him some ear pain too! :( I'm hopefully taking him in to the vets either this afternoon or tomorrow and get him checked out again.

Pffffftttt bunnies - too stressful on times xxx
